ZINE’S MATE / THE TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR 2009 was open to the public for three days in July, and occupied two venues in Jingumae, Tokyo.

The fair drew more than 8000 visitors.SPACER

The venues EYE OF GYRE & VACANT were host to 70 domestic and international arts publishers, gallery presses, zine and artists’ bookmakers. Each party attended their own booth and offered publications for sale directly to visitors.

EYE OF GYRE included an exhibition area, populated by micro-exhibitions presented by NIEVES, PRINTED MATTER, MOTTO & PAPERBACK

EXHIBITION >>

VACANT included an area called MIXED BOOTH, for publishers who could not attend the fair in person. 90 publishers contributed their publications to the MIXED BOOTH which was managed by ZINE’S MATE staff.

MIXED BOOTH >>

Daily events were staged at both venues by ZINE’S MATE, participating publishers and artists. These included, talks, performances and book signings.
