ART TENGOKU

ZINE’S MATE will participate in Art Tengoku, a new art fair held in an old public bathhouse. We will be presenting zines, T-shirts, etc. by “BY”, one of the exhibitors currently displayed at ZINE’S MATE SHOP at VACANT. All the current titles at ZM SHOP will also be on display and for sale at Art Tengoku.

The first floor of the venue is Matsunoyu, an operating bathhouse, and the entrance fee includes one free bathing as well!

ZINE’S MATE SHOP 2010

ZINE’S MATE SHOP 2010 is now open at Vacant. The publications will be renewed every three months, each quarter we will present broad selection of zines from around the world.

The first quarter we are presenting 70 titles, mainly by domestic artists. From the second quarter on, we will renew and expand the collection.

We are accepting titles for upcoming quarters.

As of 2010 the ZINE’S MATE SHOP will be become a fixture at Vacant. From here on in we are accepting applications from anyone interested in participating. We will review applications and renew our stock every three months. Application information below!

APPLICATION CONDITIONS

Before submitting your application, please carefully read the conditions below. By applying to participate, you are accepting these conditions and agree to be bound by them. Should you have any questions or suggestions, please contact info@zinesmate.org

SALES
Publications are to be supplied as a sale-or-return consignment, sales terms will be 50% to the publisher 50% to ZINE’S MATE. Any expenses incurred, such as the shipping of books (including return shipping) and transaction fee for payment via bank transfer, are the responsibility of the participant.

PAYMENT
We will clear balances after the end of each quarter.

SELECTION PROCESS
Following your application, in some cases, the selection committee may request sample copies for the purpose of the selection process.

SUBMISSION & SELECTION
We will review submitted titles every three months.
We will review up to five titles per applicantant per quarter. Any submissions of more than five titles will not be considered.
Following your application, in some cases, the selection committee may request sample copies of your publications for the purpose of the selection process.
We may decline to carry some or all of the titles you submit. We will not answer any questions regarding the selection process.
We will use the submitted sample copies as display copies. We may discontinue carrying exiting titles at the end of any given quarter.
Please apply at anytime, but if you want to apply for a specific quarter, please do so according to the deadlines listed below.

Quarter 1: Late January to Late March, (submission deadline January15th)
Quarter 2: Early April to Late June, (submission deadline March 15th)
Quarter 3: Early July to Late September, (submission deadline June 10th)
Quarter 4: Early October to Late December, (submission deadline September15)

8. Please list titles, authors, and retail prices. We accept up to 5 publications per applicant per quarter. Please include tax in the retail price you specify. Tax is charged at 5%.

Material for the Website

Please supply a short text about yourself and an image.

Text – Maximum 150 words

Image – Jpg, no bigger than 800×800 pixels, 72 dpi

The image should be the cover of one of the publications submitted. We may use the image for publicity purposes.

APPLY IN PERSON

We are also accepting applications delivered in person to NOW IDeA by UTRECHT. To do so, please bring finished sample(s) of your publication(s) and provide the information listed above (images to be supplied at a later date by email, upon request).

ZINE’S MATE 2009 CLOSING PARTY on 12/20(SUN)

Please join us to celebrate the closing of ZINE’S MATE year 2009, 5pm to 7pm on Sunday December 20th at Vacant, one of the venues of the TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR 2009 and the site of the ZINE’S MATE SHOP.

ZINE’S MATE 2009 CLOSING PARTY

Entrance Fee: 1,000 yen (Includes 1 drink)
*Free entrance for ZINE’S MATE / TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR 2009 Participants

Tomoo Gokita, who contributed to ‘100 PAGES’, the zine box-set published by ZINE’S MATE, will be DJ-ing and Onnacodomo, authors of 2009’s ZINE’S MATE V-ZINE will be VJ-ing.

This year was our first TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR and thanks to everyone involved it was a great success, following the fair ZINE’S MATE took part in the NY Art Book Fair and other international book fairs and has continued to attract attention from audiences at home and around the world.

We would like to celebrate the end of ZINE’S MATE’s first and successful year and would like to wish you all the best for the upcoming year!

We would also like to announce that as of 2010 the ZINE’S MATE SHOP will be become a fixture at Vacant. From here on in, we are accepting samples from anyone interested in participating. We will continuously review submissions and completely renew our stock every three months. Please send samples of your zines to us anytime! More info will be available at the party.

If you have any questions regarding the ZINE’S MATE SHOP or the TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR 2010, ZINE’S MATE staff will be present at the party to help you.
